I got the bill for AAA today - $47. It is for my wife. I don't need AAA because I can change my own flat tire, I can read my gas gage, and I have never locked my keys in my car in the almost 50 years I have been driving.
Still, I am extremely grateful that such a wonderful organization as AAA exists. Imagine the peace of mind I enjoy knowing that if my wife gets a flat tire, locks her keys in the car, or runs out of gas, she can call AAA any time, day or night, and they will take care of it.
About a year ago she called me. "I am on the 163 and I have a flat tire. No need to worry. I already called triple A and they are on the way. I just wanted you to know that I'll be a few minutes late."
She told me later that she was on the road again about 15 minutes after she called me - and the best part of it is that I didn't have to do a thing. Forty-seven dollars a year. That's $3.92 a month. What a bargain!
