Poetry Must Rhyme
There's something satisfying about good poetry;
It soothes the savage soul of man - or at least the soul of me;
Except when written with the lack of thought and ample time;
For then it grates on ear and tongue because it doesn't sound good.
I love the taste of cherry pie, each tender tasty bit,
Except when e'er I bite into a piece that has a pit.
The feeling then is near the same I get with every line
Of something some call poetry that simply doesn't sound good.
Prose can be quite beautiful, the words can be sublime;
And prose can make a paragraph, but poetry must rhyme.
